Meet Leslie
In addition to representing District 12 in Charleston City Council, Leslie is the CEO of a statewide sustainability non-profit, a mom of twins and a leader with a deep track record of service in our community.
Leslie puts constituent needs first and finds solutions to make city government work. Whether it’s fixing potholes or drainage ditches, Leslie is a servant leader who is committed to preserving and improving quality of life on James Island.
Businesswoman and CEO
Leslie is the CEO of an environmental sustainability organization that connects diverse stakeholders from across the state to find solutions that benefit our communities and businesses. For over a decade, Leslie also built and executed strategies to drive business growth for Fortune 500 companies, governments, non-profits and institutions. As a strategic communications and strategy professional, Leslie specialized in advising purpose-driven clients to uncover strategies to meet business goals while positively impacting their communities. Leslie completed her MBA from Georgetown with a focus in Non-Market Strategy to help businesses be a force for good in the world.
Effective Community Leader
Leslie is a community leader. She was named as South Carolina's Top 50 Influential People by the State Business Journal, South Carolina’s Top 50 Women to Admire, Charleston Regional Business Journal’s 40 under 40 and a Woman of Influence, and SC Biz News’ Palmetto Power New Executive Honorees.
Leslie previously served as a Commissioner for the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission, and was appointed to the advisory committee for the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Comprehensive Climate Action Plan, and served on the City of Charleston’s Climate Action Plan Education Committee.
She is the founder of “C3: Connecting the Community for Change - Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders” - a program that teaches the civil rights history of South Carolina and builds bridges among students of diverse backgrounds. Leslie was selected to be on the International African American Museum's Interfaith Advisory Committee and worked as a board member for the Charleston and State League of Women Voters.
Leslie serves on the Charleston Chamber of Commerce's Regional Policy Committee. She graduated from the Port Ambassador Program, is a graduate of the Riley Institute Diversity Leaders Initiative, Leadership Charleston. She was selected to join Leadership South Carolina.
Mom and Wife
Most importantly, Leslie is a mom. While raising twin boys on James Island with her husband and their rescue dog, Leslie understands and is invested in the importance of preserving our way of life and ensuring the future of Charleston for generations to come. Leslie works every day to promote public access to green spaces and water, improve our parks and invest in recreation to build and maintain a community that works for all of us.
